Eloping in Colorado: Our Love Story
My husband and I eloped to Colorado, here's how it went!
Anthony and I have always loved exploring nature and traveling across the states. When we got engaged (the best proposal ever!) we immediately knew we wanted to elope somewhere up in the mountains!
We’ve been together since I moved to New York (I’m originally born and raised in Southern California!) and attended University eight years earlier.
We knew we didn’t want a traditional wedding and wanted something that was more “us” – something kind of wild and outdoorsy. We both love the winter and snow, which made our elopement even more special.
Why Colorado
I have always loved Colorado since I was young. In the summer of 2021, my husband got his first chance to visit Colorado and we both knew that we wanted to tie the knot in the mountains. But beyond that, Colorado is one of the few states where you can legally marry yourself, or even have your furry friend marry you! This adds a special touch to the ceremony and makes it even more intimate and romantic.
Colorado is the most beautiful state with some of the most stunning mountain backdrops – you don’t have to travel to the Alps to see some epic snow-capped mountains! Colorado has it all.
Our Ceremony
Our ceremony took place at over 11,000 ft elevation– Clinton Gulch, Summit Country – with the most breathtaking backdrop view of Clinton Peak. We exchanged our vows, enjoyed cake, and took pictures to commemorate the occasion.
When We Eloped
We tied the knot on our 8 years anniversary, on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Who We Invited
We had a very intimate ceremony with just our parents and our elopement photographer, making a total of seven of us.
After we exchanged our vows and took some group photos, our parents treated us to a dinner at a high-end restaurant in Vail. It was the perfect ending to an already perfect day.
